Preparing for the GED

Are you ready to earn your high school equivalency diploma? Now is as good a time as any to take the GED. Having your GED will boost your resume for jobs and colleges. The GED is a General Education Diploma issued by the state of Ohio. It’s equivalent to a high school diploma and is a great option for people who never finished going to school. It’s available to all adult learners as young as 16 years old. Before you spend money and take the test blind, you can practice first at Polaris Career Center.

It’s strongly recommended to take adult education GED prep classes, so you can brush up on the material and get a good idea of what to expect. The exam will test your knowledge on five high school level subjects, which are Language Arts/Writing, Language Arts/Reading, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics.

Benefits of Taking GED Prep Classes

Our GED prep classes are taught by certified teachers and you’ll be surrounded by people just like you who are learning. The teachers cover everything you might need to know for the exam, so you can feel confident and ready pass it. If it’s been awhile since you were last in a classroom setting, don’t worry. There’s no pressure and you get to learn at your own pace. We’re just here to help support you as you reach for your education and career goals.
The classes are kept small to give you the chance to ask questions and get one-on-one help if you need it. All in person classes are held at Polaris Career Center, however students that qualify may use Teams to join the class online from anywhere. Many students end up making lifelong friends through these test prep classes. If you prefer, computer-based instruction is also available. Students who attend at least 12 hours of instruction may be eligible to receive a voucher for a free GED practice test.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Polaris offers free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). If you want to improve your English skills, this program is the perfect place to start. The classes will teach you reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Whether you’re brand-new to English or know it pretty well, you’ll be able to benefit from taking these classes. And just like the GED courses, these have small sizes and passionate teachers.
