Polaris juniors, Danny Pham (left), Pre-Nursing, Brooklyn High School; Fadiah Jaffal (middle), Medical Professions, North Olmsted High School; and Karline Schnell, Pre-Nursing, Berea-Midpark High School, have earned coveted spots in the Cleveland Clinic Howley ASPIRE Nurse Scholars Program and the Cleveland Clinic Howley ASPIRE Pathways Program.
Cleveland Clinic Howley ASPIRE Nurse Scholars Program
Danny Pham was one of 50 students from throughout Northeast Ohio to be selected to participate in the Howley ASPIRE Nurse Scholars Program. This internship is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic and The Howley Foundation in collaboration with Ursuline College Breen School of Nursing. This program is designed for high school juniors interested in pursuing careers in nursing.
The Howley ASPIRE Nurse Scholars Program focuses on providing participants with career information and critical skill sets to support their journey through higher education, nursing school and beyond.
A $500 monetary stipend is awarded to each student upon successful completion of the program. Select participants will be invited to return for a second year as mentors, as well as to build on the foundation of skills and concepts learned in junior year. The returning seniors will have the opportunity to earn a scholarship to attend Ursuline College to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
This 12-week enrichment program is intended to develop each student’s understanding of the nursing field. Students can expect to be enlightened on, but not limited to the following:

Cleveland Clinic Howley ASPIRE Pathways Program
Fadiah Jaffal and Karline Schnell were selected to take part in the Cleveland Clinic Howley ASPIRE Pathways Program. They were two of 45 students from our region to be chosen this year. Howley ASPIRE Pathways is an enrichment program sponsored by The Howley Foundation in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic. This initiative is designed for high school juniors interested in pursuing careers in respiratory therapy, surgical technology or sterile processing.
The program focuses on providing participants with career options and critical skill sets to support their transition through higher education, entry into the workforce and beyond.
A $500 monetary stipend is also awarded upon successful completion of the program. Like the ASPIRE Nurse Scholars Program, select participants will be invited to return for a second year as mentors, as well as to build on the foundation of skills and concepts learned in their first year. Returning seniors will have the opportunity to earn a scholarship to attend Cuyahoga Community College for Surgical Technology or Kent State University for Respiratory Therapy to complete a 2-year degree or receive on-the-job training and certification in Sterile Processing from the Cleveland Clinic.
