Since its inception in 2018, the Southwest Regional Business Advisory Council (SRBAC) has continuously evolved to address the growing needs of our six partner school districts and local employers. This dynamic council, made up of over 80 businesses, community leaders and education partners, plays a vital role in shaping the future workforce. Meeting quarterly, SRBAC members provide invaluable feedback on education and workforce initiatives, participate in student-employer panels and stay updated on activities within our partner districts.
The 2024-2025 SRBAC kicked off this month with exciting developments! Eighteen new business partners were welcomed, and several new initiatives for the school year were introduced. Together, the SRBAC continues to foster meaningful collaboration between employers, educators and students, driving career and workforce development in our local communities.
This year, the SRBAC is focused on several key areas, in line with Ohio Department of Education and Workforce recommendations and local workforce needs:
Continue spearheading career exploration and workforce development initiatives that serve our associate school communities.
Creating authentic work-based learning opportunities for students, including mock interviews.
Defining essential employment skills and refining curriculum pathways to ensure students acquire these skills.
Analyzing shifts in the economy and job market to identify future in-demand careers.
Strengthening partnerships among businesses, labor organizations and educational institutions.
Connecting graduating seniors with local employers and post-secondary training opportunities.
Bridging workforce gaps by preparing students for careers through mentorship, job shadowing, internships and hands-on skills training.
By maintaining strong partnerships and actively addressing local workforce needs, the SRBAC continues to play a crucial role in preparing students for future career success.
We are grateful to our partners, supporters and advocates and appreciate the role they play in our council’s success. Click HERE to view our 2024 Joint Statement and learn more about the SRBAC’s impact.
